Supporting Fellow Artists 💜

Are these classes in the Membership?

In order to fully support our Guest Instructors we could not include their classes in Colin's membership. It would be too difficult to pay them based on the ratio of classes we have (nearly 400 of Colin's and 3 of theirs) and they would end up making pennies each. We're committed to paying our instructors fairly, so we made them the same price as Colin's classes at £10 each. We hope you all understand.

Emma Colbert

After graduating at UCA Maidstone with BA Hons Illustration in 2007, Emma began working on portrait commissions and producing her own series of wildlife pastel paintings. Having always enjoyed soft pastel, this soon became the choice of medium for all her work.

She is now a leading animal portrait artist in the UK. Endorsed by Unison Colour Pastels, she has created several colour selections of soft pastels for them introducing other artists to the beauty of the medium.

Emma loves to paint all subject matters and regularly accepts people and landscape commissions too. Her love of painting backgrounds takes her portraits to another level allowing the entire scene to be captured in pastel and creating portraits that have a story to tell.

It’s all of these techniques that inspired Emma to start a blog sharing her pastel tips, and later a Youtube and Patreon channel. Through her videos over the years, many new artists have been inspired to pick up the medium of soft pastel. Artists already experienced in the medium learn to push beyond their comfort zones and refine their skills further.

Having won awards and featured on the cover of ‘Artists & Illustrators’ magazine, Emma’s work has become recognised worldwide. But these days her attention is driven towards creating a library of information all about soft pastel to help the medium grow and to help fellow pastel artists on their own progression.
